Welcome to London Reading Club Special Events

APPRECIATION OF QING DYNASTY PORCELAIN

To explore the beauty of Chinese porcelain, an indispensable stop is the Kangxi wucai (Famille Verte) and the Yongzheng famille rose porcelains of the Qing dynasty. We were delighted to have esteemed experts in the field, Vice Chair of the British Chinese Collectors Club, Wan Tang, and Jiaxuan Ding, to guide us through this captivating realm with their wealth of knowledge and expertise. They brought some of the most precious collection as example to demonstrate how to identify and handle antique porcelains of particular periods.

“Somebody who only reads newspapers and at best books of contemporary authors looks to me like an extremely near-sighted person who scorns eyeglasses. He is completely dependent on the prejudices and fashions of his times, since he never gets to see or hear anything else.”
